Public Health
Our mission is to prevent disease for all active duty personnel, contractors, civilians and TRICARE beneficiaries, whether at Beale Air Force Base, deployed or in the local community. We have two elements: Community Health and Force Health. In Community Health, we conduct vector surveillance to mitigate vector-borne diseases and control pest nuisances. Our job includes inspection of all public and food facilities on Beale Air Force Base. We also provide food handler training for any food establishment supervisors and design prevention and health education plans for all communicable disease situations such as sexually transmitted infections, flu outbreaks and tuberculosis. We approve all temporary food establishments such as bake sales, barbecues and other fundraisers involving food sold or given away on Beale. In Force Health, our primary focus is in occupational health, and deployment medical clearances. Force Health is the starting point for all medical deployment clearances of every active duty member, mission-essential civilian and contractor. Public Health provides travel medicine briefings for any eligible medical beneficiary traveling to high disease risk areas as well as medical intelligence briefs for each deployment location. We participate in major public health emergency disaster exercises.
